Piano Lessons
Anthony will help you develop a strong technique, musical understanding and confidence at the piano, with lessons for children and adults: from first-time beginners to advanced classical and jazz pianists.
Anthony van den Broek brings over 25 years of teaching experience, an active performing career and his work as an AMEB examiner to every lesson. He is also a qualified teacher of the Taubman Approach for Piano.
A strong start for young pianists
Children learn in an encouraging environment that develops technical foundations, musical artistry and a sound understanding of music. Anthony specialises in guiding young pianists from their first lessons through to diploma level and beyond. .
With dedication and supportive parents, students have completed diplomas between the ages of 12 and 16, however there are no short cuts. Success requires discipline, hard-work and dedication. While students often advance quickly at Inner West Piano, this is never done at the expense of developing long term skills.
Consequently, his students have achieved outstanding results in competitions, eisteddfods and examinations and have successfully auditioned for the Conservatorium High School and university music programmes.
Lessons for adult pianists
Whether attempting classical or jazz repertoire, Anthony teaches a select range of motivated adult pianists who play from intermediate to seriously advanced levels. Although he does not currently take on beginner adults, Anthony will consider taking on very motivated adults who are at pre-intermediate level. Lessons can help you sharpen your skills, play for enjoyment or prepare for AMEB examinations. The focus is on developing your playing with greater understanding and confidence.
Music to share
Performance is part of studio life. Students have opportunities to play in two mid-semester concerts and two major concerts each year, as well as examinations, competitions and music festivals.

Diploma study brings technical control, musical insight and artistry together. From Associate to Licentiate level, Anthony helps pianists refine their performance and develop the freedom, confidence and musical understanding to perform at their best.
